Object of desire is a regular feature where one of our fashion writers swoons over their most wanted fashion piece of the moment. This week: Balmain Stretch Leather Pants

I love leather pants. They’re the kind of wardrobe piece that never really goes out of style and they’re effortlessly sophisticated. For Fall, I’m digging French couturier Balmain¹s stretch leather skinny pants. These are truly Leather Pants 2.0, from their skinny cut and design, to the zippers on the ankles and below the pockets. The gold hardware is also a bold statement and will look perfectly accented with a classic quilted Chanel bag with its signature gold chain. I’d also like to see this accessorized with a classic Cartier Love Bracelet.

These pants are perfect to wear when you want to wear something more formal than a skinny jean, but less corporate and more fashionable than your favorite pair of black pants. I also think leather pants are incredibly practical in cold weather, preventing having to make the choice between being fashionable and freezing. With a pair of Hunter boots, you could even get away with wearing them in the snow or rain. For a sexy, androgynous look, pair the pants with a t-shirt or tank and blazer. But really, it¹s hard to find something pants won’t pair well with.
