Austra unveil new video for ‘Forgive Me’

We liked Austra’s 2011 debut album, so news ofthat the band is planning a new release is always welcome. The band have shared a new video for “Forgive Me”, the third video from their most recent album Olympia out on Domino. The video is directed by fellow Canadian Claire Edmondson who created the sexually charged, yet endearingly candid video for “Beat and the Pulse” from their 2011 debut Feel It Break.
Katie Stelmanis of Austra said of the Forgive Me video:
A night vision camera captures life in a dark park. Among the hidden corners and leaf-covered hideaways, people purge and absolve their sins through sexual liberation. We highlight a romance between a man and a woman who seek forgiveness from each-other: the only forgiveness that is of any importance.
“Forgive Me” alongside two new b-sides “Hopeless Place” and “Holy Place” will be available digitally on November 26th and is available to pre-order now.
Austra will end their current European tour with a sold out London show at Koko on November 25.
Olympia is an album of transformation. After three years of international touring with the likes of the XX, Grimes and the Gossip, when it came time to record Olympia, Austra had evolved into a complex collaborative effort between its members. Influenced by early Chicago house music, where dance music was performed with a live band, ”Forgive Me” too was performed live in the studio by Austra, free of any programming or loops.
